J. Herbin 1670 ink bottle - Kyanite du Nepal

Jacques Herbin 1670 Kyanite du Nepal is a Turquoise fountain pen ink with an intense golden luster.

Jacques Herbin has been around since 1670, hence the name of their premium ink line. The 1670 line was launched in 2010 on their 340th birthday with the Rouge Hematite ink, the first in the 1670 ink series. That ink is deep red with a golden sheen and still sells today. They continued with Bleu Ocean in 2012 and then Stormy Gray in 2014. The ink comes in a 50 ml bottle with a decorative wax seal on the bottle and a flexible wash cap.

Because of the amount of particles in this ink that is used to achieve a sparking appearance, this can lead to a limited ink flow in some fountain pens. J. Herbin gives a warning on the boxes with the advice to regularly clean your fountain pen. It is advisable to pre-fill the ink in the fountain pen to shake it to keep the gloss effect consistent. This will also help to prevent blockages. Despite this, when using this ink you must be aware that the supply can become clogged and you must clean the fountain pen.

Originally J. Herbin was a sailor and from his travels to India he brought ingredients and gained knowledge for the manufacture of ink and varnish.
